mIRC Edit Line Aliases

These simple aliases append text to the end of the line you are typing. In order for them to work, they are assigned to a function key, so you can execute the alias without having to type its name.

Smiley Inserter
Press the F8 key to insert a yellow-faced smiley.
URL Inserter
Press the F12 key to insert a link to the page you are browsing.

I like to use a little color while chatting. But I don't like wasting time with all the color control codes. Here is an alias that allows you to press F8 to insert a yellow-faced smiley.

How to install

In mIRC, enter this command:

Press F8 to insert the colored smiley at the end of the line you are typing.
Tip: The F8 key is near the ) key to remind you it will make a smiley face.

URL Inserter

I like to being able to share interesting webpages with chat friends. In mIRC version 5.61, you can double-click on any web address and it will open up in your browser. Here is an alias that inserts the address you are browsing into your typing. Just press the F12 key.
